Update Spring and Summer 2008

OK. so I'm not the best blogger...anyhow, I just want to update the blog on some highlights since the last one.

Boys played baseball. Don helped coach.

Finished the 2007-2008 School Year. Survived my first year as an assistant principal.

Summer was great. I taught my first college level course at Texas A&M Corpus Christi as an adjunct teacher (A masters level intro to research course). We went to California to visit family and celebrated the birth of Don's sister Sarah's new baby Max, as well as, celebrating the first birthday of Genie's little boy Elliot. We had a great visit and even had a chance to stop by and say hello to Mickey Mouse.

2008-2009 School year started. Don Roy is now officially a Junior High Student and Kaikoa is on my campus in the 5th grade. Football started and of course we are loving that!

In August, Don and I went to Boston. I did a poster presentation of my dissertation at the American Psychological Association (APA) Conference. We had a GREAT time! We really loved Boston and the weather cooperated great. We also got to hook up with Christine and Watson and had a really great visit.

My sister Christine and Watson had a baby boy Owen Samuel Danger Kawecki on September 11th. He is beautiful and such a blessed addition.

We just dodged a massive hurricane here in Corpus. Shut down school for two days...and then we didn't even get a drop of rain from it! Hey, better safe then sorry!

Finally, the biggest news for the Youngbergs to date is that we are adding a new addition to our party of 4! I'm pregnant and due on Christmas Eve. They say it's going to be a girl too! We've decided on the name Shelby Alyssa if they're right :). We are so happy and can't wait until she's here.

Anyhow, sorry my postings take forever, but drop me an email sometime for a quicker response (although I can't guarantee it's much faster).

Oh yeah, we'll my brother in law can breath fire on stilts!

I was thinking of what I could write about (life is pretty much of the same stuff lately-work, school) then I got this email from my brother in law Watson. I had to share the coolness of my bro-in-law; I mean the guy can breath fire on stilts! Anyhow, he'll be on a commercial for Dunkin Donuts doing this amazing feat and we're all really proud of him.

Nothing quite that exciting going on here, but here are some kid highlights:

Don Roy won the Spanish Bee today. He was able to answer the most questions in Spanish and recite on call words in spanish. He won a trip to the taco stand to order some spanish munchies. He was really excited about this. I'm so proud of him. He's like his mom, fascinated by other cultures and languages. Anyhow, next time you see him you can practice your spanish skills with him.

Kaikoa got a reward for running the mile in 9minutes. I have to say much better then I (or Don) could ever have done. The kid has so much energy it makes me tired. We're so proud of him; he always gives 110% in athletics. Even though he gets really angry when he can't get something easily, he is no a quiter. It may take a bunch of yelling and throwing of objects, but the kid is determined and by golly he's gonna do even if it takes a broken leg, picture, or window trying. Anyhow, next time you see him you challenge him to a race, but you better be prepared to loose.
